Potomac State's Chris Harbert Named NJCAA Player of the Week

KEYSER, W.Va. -- Potomac State baseball freshman infielder Chris Harbert had a very impressive week at the plate, earning him this week's NJCAA baseball Division I Player of the Week honors for games March 6-12, 2024, it was announced recently. Harbert helped his team to a 3-3 record on the week, finishing a .631 batting average, five home runs and 15 RBI to receive the national honor.

Harbert started the week with a doubleheader against Seton Hill University. He went 1-for-3 with an RBI in the first game. In the nightcap, he went 1-for-3 with a double and scored a run.

The Catamounts then traveled to Shenandoah University for a doubleheader where Harbert went 3-for-7 on the day with a home run, a double and six RBI. Next the Catamounts hosted a doubleheader Penn State Beaver where Harbert went 6-for-6 on the day with an impressive three home runs in the nightcap. In game one, he went 3-for-3 with a triple and a home run, scoring three runs and collecting three RBI. He followed that up with three solo home runs, including two in the same inning, totaling five RBI in the game.

Harbert has been a key part at the plate for the Catamounts this season. On the year, he has a.386 batting average with five home runs, 22 RBI, and 14 runs scored. Nine of his 17 hits have been for extra bases. His .864 slugging percentage ranks ninth in NJCAA Division I.

The Catamounts are scheduled for a 1 p.m. home twinbill against Garrett College on Wednesday, March 27.
