NJCAA Announces All-Academic Awards

Charlotte, NC – The NJCAA has released the 2023-2024 All-Academic Teams with 232 student-athletes from eighteen Region 20 institutions earning spots on the First, Second, or Third Team based on grade point average (GPA). A total of 60 student-athletes from Region 20 earned First Team honors for a cumulative GPA of 4.00 in the fall 2023 and spring 2024 semester. Another 59 earned Second Team honors requiring a cumulative GPA of 3.80-3.99. The largest number of recipients, 113, earned All-Academic Third Team with GPA's ranging from 3.60-3.79. Student-athletes also had to accumulate at least 24 credits for the academic year and participate in at least one sport. Student-athletes graduating at the end of the fall semester were also eligible to earn recognition.

Among the eighteen Region 20 institutions that were represented, WVU Potomac State College placed the most student-athletes on the academic teams with 37. Student-athletes from 14 different sports were featured with baseball leading the way with 49 recipients. Of the 232 student-athletes recognized, 133 were first year athletes, and 99 were in their second year. 

The NJCAA also released the All-Academic Teams of the Year which is awarded to individual teams that earn a 3.00 accumulative GPA for the entire academic year. WVU Potomac State College had seven programs earn Team of the Year honors while Anne Arundel Community College had three teams and Harford Community College had two teams. Anne Arundel's Women's Lacrosse program earned a second consecutive Team of the Year award for the highest GPA among all Women's Lacrosse teams.

Congratulations to the 232 student-athletes and 12 individual programs for their tremendous accomplishments in the classroom during the 2023-2024 academic year.
